What Is The Treatment For An Ear Infection?

Good morning Dr Grief,
I have had an ear infection for over three months, but the GP confirmed that my ear drum and inner ear are not infected. But...

I now have two large pea-shaped swellings that came up overnight - they are positioned directly vertical below my ear on the angle of the jawline/mandible.

The side of my face (near the temple) has also swollen and is exquisitely tender and red.

I have been given antibiotic ear drops, but I can't see how that will help!

ps I also have fibromyalgia, which is making me feeling very drained.

I appreciate any help and advice, thank you.

Hello

Welcome in H.C.M.

I have gone through your query regarding ear infection for last three months. Your G.P.had diagnosed as your ear drum is not effected. You are already taking antibiotics but that is not effective and now you had developed a lump anterior to ear and temple on the same side.

If your infection is for last three months than it is really a specialist to be consulted. Possibility is of-

1- Wax in ear gets infected.

2- Look your scalp for dandruff.

3- It may be allergic dermatitis of ear canal.

4- Associated with otitis externa polyp.

Till you are waiting for specialist you may use ear drop having antibiotic + anti fungal + steroid to get some relief.

Regards.
