Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a abdominal hernia that is so big now that is painful, I have troulbs breathing and back pain and cnt move. Wll doctors didn't want to treat hernia right now due to some other issues having Ike severe swelling in legs and diabetes. Wanted weight loss and better pain control in legs and such before they would do surgery. Do you think now with what stated above that it would be treated now if went to hospital?
I am so sorry to hear about this abdominal hernia. Anesthesia is a major concern during surgery and we must make sure it would be safe for you to be put to sleep. The risk of this and the surgery are compared to the risk of not doing immediate surgery. If there is great concern, then the surgery may not be the straight way forward. Since you now have pain which may suggest a complication, they may find enough reasons to justify going in for surgery despite the poor state of health and the huge risk of anesthesia. In whatever case, your safety and good health is the priority.
I hope this addresses your query fully. Thank you so much for patronizing our services and please do feel free to ask for follow up clarifications and information if need be. I wish you the best of health. Dr. Ditah, MD.
