What Is The Time Span For A Stent To Work Properly?
My brother had a mild heart attack three years ago at age 48. A stent was put in one artery. After the heart attack he didn't go to his Dr. to follow up and up until 9 months ago he was walking around with high blood pressure 180/115 (even on medications), he continued to smoke, he's 100 lbs. over weight, never exercises and he eats an unhealthy diet. If he continues this unhealthy lifestyle how long is this stent expected to work?
Depending on the type of stent, the stent can function for at least five years or longer.
That said, if he continues his lifestyle like you describe, he will still suffer from further coronary artery damage and he will likely have another, more serious heart attack in the near future
