What Is The Tickling Sensation In Chest?

Hey I have a tickle deep in my chest which only happens periodically, it is like a feather tickling and the only way to stop it, is by coughing hard for a good 10 minutes, I wonder am I damaging my lungs each time it happens. I do have nasal drip at night and occasionally if I laugh a lot, or am nervous about something I cough also.

Thanks for your question on HCM.
In my opinion we should rule out arrhythmia in your case.
As arrhythmia causes irregular heart beats which in turn gives feeling of tickling something in chest. And coughing produce vegal stimulation (parasympathetic) which is slowing the heart rate. So you feel better after coughing, this indicates possibility of arrhythmia more.
So get done
1. ECG
2. Holter monitoring (24 hours recording of ECG)
If both are normal then no need to worry much for cardiac cause.
Stress and anxiety may be the cause.
So avoid stress and tension. Be relax and calm.
