What Is The Survival Rate Of People Diagnosed With Astrocytoma?

My son has been diagnosed with astrocytoma. I think he may have had it in his early twenties due to he was passing out every so often. He was diagnosed with malignate vasovagal syncope. He also had a pace maker put in back in Feb due to his heart rate dropping to 24 beats a minute. Now if seems he didn t need that. But my question is what is the survival rate of this type of cancer?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello Dear
I evaluated your concern in depth .
Sorry to hear about issue of your son .
@ Clinically Astrocytoma are notorious nervous system cancers .
@ Survival rate depends upon many factors as type of lesion , extent ,
progress , metastasis , host immune response , associated co morbid
conditions , type of treatment , grading , staging by WHO criteria & many
more
@ I will comment at this juncture that Lower grade I , II have lesser
mortality & higher survival rate as compared to
Grade III , IV with higher mortality & lesser survival rates .
Hope this helps you to some extent .
Feel free to ask any doubt in future anytime .
Wishing your son peaceful life ahead .
