What Is The Success Rate Of Surgery In Case Of Bone Spurs And Arthritis?

I have gone through 3 pain blocks w/o relief. The MRI has revealed bone spurs, erosion of the spine (C-5/C-6), narrowing, significant arthritis and a pinched nerve that is causing relentless pain. Surgery has been deemed necessary. What is entailed? I meet back with the N/S next week for scheduling. Is this O/P or I/P?

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hello,
I have studied your case and I believe that you are having cervical spondylitis with disc herniation. It can cause nerve compression and pain. If medicines and injections are not giving you pain relief than you can plan for surgery.
1.It is a succssful surgery but should be done at good centre and by either a spine surgeon or aneuro surgeon.
2.You may need ICU or ventilator.
3.Chances of paralysis is also there, so discuss all these complications with your doctor.
I hope this anser will be useful for you. Let me know if there is anyother followup questions.
thanks
