What Is The Success Rate Of Surgery For Anal Fistula?

My 17 year old grandaughter has a crohn's disease and has a fistula for the past two years and has been unable to heal it. She is suppose to have surgery to have a plug put in. Is this procedure very painful and what are the chances that this will work?
