What Is The Solution For Swelling In Ears After Taking Ciprodex?

ear was leaky for months. Doctor did a culture, and started me on Ciprodex before culture came back. Three days later culture came back as a yeast infection, however I was out of the country and did not get the message. Continued using Ciprodex even though my ear swelled shut right after starting using it. 10 days later I am back, I get the message and stop the drops. It has been 4 days since discontinuing drops and my ear is still swollen shut. No pain or redness, but I am going crazy about the swelling. Is there anything I can do to get the swelling to go down? I am not due back at Dr. til next week.

Hi

Welcome to HealthcareMagic forum

You seem to have developed otitis externa because of the continuous use of ciprofloxacin ear drops. You need to stop the ear drops first and use a cream containing antibacterial and steroid combination. You can apply the cream over the q-tips and apply it gently inside the canal. This will help in reducing the swelling.
