What Is The Safest Treatment For Heart Attack In A 91 Year Old?

My 91 year old Grandmother had a heart attack and they are saying they aren't sure if they should do open heart surgery or a stent. They also said they could give her meds to manage the blockage. Will any of this help? What is the safest way to help her?

HI

Thanks for posting your query .

The best treatment for an Heart attack is Angioplasty with stenting . But considering her age whether she can tolerate a stenting procedure is questionable . Open heart surgery is out of the question . A straight NO for that .

If she is otherwise ok then you can get Stent inserted , but if she is very weak and has other problems too then better you go for medical management of blockage .

Hope this answers your query.
Any clarifications or Queries feel free to ask.
Happy to help you.
