What Is The Right Dosage Of Sythroid To Be Taken For TSH-135?
Patient has history of hypothyriodism. He had been taking synthroid 125mcgs/day with food. However over the last few months he has become increasingly confused. TSH done yesterday was 135. At what dose should he resume synthroid and are there any special precautions in this 85 year old patient.
Hi thanks for using HCM TSH of 135 is really high..Thyroxine has to be restarted early.Since he is 85 years ,it's better to correct slowly.Rapid correction can cause cardiac problems. Its better to restart with 100mcg and slowly increase accordingly... TSH and FT4 has to be repeated after 6 weeks and review with your endocrinologist.... thank you...
