What Is The Remedy For The Intermittent Constipation Having Been Bloated?

I suffer from intermittent constipation. Since taking Verapamil it has got a lot worse and I haven t had a proper bowel movement for about 2 weeks. I ve tried Movicol, Agarol and other laxatives without success. I am currently away on a caravanning holiday, but feeling very uncomfortable and bloated. What else can I do?

Hello
Verapamil is a calcium channel blocker used to control hypertension. It does have a side effect of causing constipation. Drinking plenty of liquids and eating a high fiber diet in addition to physical exercise should help with the constipation. A medication called miralax can be helpful as well. When you return from your holiday I suggest you discuss an alternative medication with your doctor. I do not recommend stopping the medication as your blood pressure will rise and this can be dangerous.
Best regards
