What Is The Remedy For Dry And Flaky Skin?

my skin gets very dry and flaky especially when I take a shower with soap. I have gone without soap for days and it still doesn't seem to get any better. I have had this condition for years. It only gets better when I use topical steroid on it and that lightens my skin. Please advice

Hello and welcome to healthcaremagic

If I was your treating doctor I would have asked you to use a good moisturizer cream rather than using a steroid. A moisturizing cream containing either urea, ammonium lactate, glycerin etc would be preferable because of there hygroscopic as well as occlusive properties i.e they absorb moisture from the atmosphere and seal it inside the skin.
