What Is The Remedy For Bloodshot Eyes With Mild Irritation Due To Chicken Grease Splashing Into Eyes?

Hi, was taking grease (warm, not hot) out of a chicken with a baster and the grease splashed up into my eye when I dropped the grease can. Not the cleanest thing in the world but at least it was not boiling and it was fresh. I irrigated for about 10 minutes with lukewarm water (not time to sterilize), vision is not blurry, nor is there any pain, only mildly bloodshot and slightly irritated feeling. Actually a bit sticky from the oil I guess. I have made saline solution, from boiled water and am cooling it for use. What if anything should I do now? Do I need any ointment? Any eye drops etc. If happened about 1/2 hr. ago and seems OK now.

Hello
It seems from the history that chicken grease splashed into your eyes following which you are having redness and irritation of the eyes.
As you have already washed your eyes and since irritation is still you have to repeat washing the eyes till irritation and stickiness disappears.
The redness of the eyes is because of irritation and this requires vasoconstrictor eye drops. Antibiotic eye drops are also indicated to prevent secondary infection.
If the irritation or stickiness persists then you require examination by a eye doctor.

Thank you
