I have been told that I have Chronic Dry Eye. The doctor says that I don t have enough oil production, even though my eyes have water running from them. I have been twice to a specialist, they have given me the Prednisone drops for inflammation. It helps, but my eyes are still really bothering me, they feel like they grit in them and still swelling and burning. Is there something more that can be done? Please help me.
Hello It seems from the history that you are having chronic dry eye because of decreased oil production. This indicates that the meibomian glands which secrete the oily secretions are malfunctioning. This usually occurs in meibiominitis. The treatment of the condition is by use of lid scrubs and anti-inflammatory drugs. Non responding cases require treatment by use of tear plugs or antimetabolite drugs like cyclosporin.
Hence I advice you to consult your doctor for examination and treatment accordingly.
Thank you
