What Is The Reason For Recurring Strep Throat With Pus Pockets In Throat After Removal Of Tonsils?

I had strep throat 3 times in 2013 and I've never had it before in my life. The first time in February, the second in June, and the last in October. My primary care physician treated it with cipro, a penicillin shot, and amoxicillin but it kept coming back. I finally saw an ear, nose, and throat specialist who had my tonsils removed at the beginning of December. I hoped that it would fix the problem but I am seeing pus pockets forming in my throat again and my throat feels hot and uncomfortable. Why am I not able to get rid of Strep Throat?

Hi. What you have is called as granular pharyngitis and the septic focus can be in the sinuses. Rule out this with CT Scan of paranasal sinuses. You may need a continuous and long courses of antibiotics. Local care in form of medicated gargles particularly at bed time just before sleep, avoidance of irritating food/ beverages/ smoke/ dust/ fumes/ scents do help a lot in good recovery. Hope you find this helpful in getting a cure.
