What Is The Reason For Muscle Atrophy In Fingers?

Hello, I am a 19 year old male and about 6 months ago I ve noticed muscle atrophy in my right hand between my thumb and forefinger, but only a slight loss in index finger strength. About a week ago I noticed some atrophy on the outside of my hand between my pinkie and index finger and that my pinkie is extremely weak. I also can t bring it in together with my other fingers when they re straight. I also noticed some tension behind the funny bone and under the armpit when stretching (like the sensation when I pull a muscle,) so I thought it might be ulnar nerve entrapment. However, I m a little confused because I don t have any numbness, pain, or tingling in my outside fingers; muscle weakness and atrophy are the first symptoms.

Thank you for the question Quickly you must consult orthopedist and a neuro specialist for check up and have X ray of shoulder region/MRI.
There are some medical contions also apart from nerve impingement at shoulder level.Thorough physical examination of median, ulnar and radial nerve, bracheal plexus, acromio- claviular joint, shoulder outlet should be done and also electro-physiological test of the nerves to arrive to a diagnosis and treatment.
