Hi,
The absence of a noted source of infection as cause for the elevated blood counts raises the suspicion of an auto-immune cause, a rare possibility of the gestation sac being considered as a foreign body by the immune system as reported in very few cases in the medical history. This could also be the reason for the arrest of the pregnancy and the tissue reaction may have stopped once the pregnancy stopped growing. Else, undiagnosed viral infections, malarial fever also can lead to such a picture. Hope your query has been answered. Take care.
