What Is The Reason For Continued Long And Heavy Periods For Two Weeks After Being On Birth Control?

I have had my period for more then two weeks with no signs of slowing down I was on birth control but stopped taking it after the first week my period didn t stop I am getting frustrated with everyday that goes by I no that my hormones have to be low enough to start my period and after the second week I tried again with my birthcontrol I took one pill thinking it would show signs of slowing down and nothing what do I do ..? Also this isent the first time but this is definitely the longest and heaviest Also I do not plan to have children within the next few yrs and I have heard of a birth control that only gives you three periods a yr but I also heard its not healthy what do you think? (Considering the fact that I hate periods)

Your periods may be long because you stopped the birth control, and they will usually become regular if you give it some time. However, you may have an underlying problem that is causing your periods to be heavy and irregular, but whiole you were on the pills, your periods were controlled by the pills. There could be many causes for this, such as various hormonal problems like polycystic ovary syndrome, obesity, thyroid problems, and more.

You can restart the pills and that will control your cycles like before, or you can talk to your doctor about taking pills that give you fewer periods. They are not dangerous or unhealthy at all, unless you have underlying medical problems that preclude you from taking the pills, such as a history of a blood clotting disorder. I don't see any reason why you shouldn't talk to your doctor about that option. I hope this was helpful to you, please let me know if you have any more questions.
