What Is The Reason For Blood In Stools?

I'm a 23 yr old female. For the past few days I have had bloody stools. It's a significant amount of blood...it appears in the toilet and on toilet paper . The pain is severe when I pass a stool, but I keep having the urge to go. I rarely ever drink water. Could this be the problem?
