What Is The Purpose Of Susten 100 And Fol Tablets?
Hello doctor.. Last menstrual cycle on May8th.. forty days completed so i have consulted my Doctor.. she asked me to take urine test and its negative.. So doctor informed that egg formed but its not came out properly and prescribed susten 100 and fol 3G.. But i have some symptoms like drowiness & nausea last 2 weeks.. Can u explain what is the purpose of these tablets..

Susten is a tablet containing progesterone, many doctors administer it empirically in doses of 200-300mg twice a day without a documentary evidence of a deficiency of progesterone. well, no one wants to take chances. progesterone deficit does cause threatened abortion or actual abortion, and it's given to many patients who have had abortions in the past. you seem to have had only 1 abortion. and there's no harm in taking it. susten can be taken vaginally, orally or rectally. though the best mode seems to be vaginally from point of bioavailability and yes, in this presribed dose when given for a limited period, say from few days to a month, there are no side effects. like when comparing risk benefit ratio, the benefits are far more compared to adverse side effects. few may get vomiting.
Folic acid is given to women who want to become pregnant and pregnant women with previous delivery of baby with neural tube defect. it is given to all pregnant women in 3 month before pregnanct and continues to take 3 mths during pregnancy in order to prevent the neural tube defect in child.
