What Is The Purpose Of Femilon When Diagnosed With PCOS?
Hi i went to a gynacologist for the issue related to PCOS.. am married for 3 yrs now and they took all the required tests and they have suggested a medication of Normoz, follinal plus and Femilon. To reduce weight they prescribed me Reshape too. My query is why they are suggesting a birth control pills Femilon as part of the medication..it will not help in pregnancy..then may i know the reason why they have suggested this to me?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Birth control pills are generally suggested as part of polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) to regularize menstrual cycle. This is very much essential part of the treatment as the cycle has to be happening at proper intervals so that ovulation will take place at proper time. Once cycles are regular, ovulation can be made to happen at proper time by means of ovulation inducing and stimulating drugs. Also, weight reduction through diet, exercise and medication would help in improving the chances of conception in PCOS. Kindly follow the treatment protocol as suggested with regular follow-up as suggested and it would help to increase the chances for becoming pregnant. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
