What Is The Prognosis After A Cardiac Arrest?

Hi My mom has had a cardiac arrest 12 days ago.The doctors managed to get her BP and pulse back through CPR but she has been unconsious since then.An EEG scan has been done but the doctors say that she does not have fits of the brain and we need to wait for her to wake up.She does react to pain and to tickling. She yawns at times, occasionaly moves her feet. There is shivering in her hands sometimes. Please advise as to what are the chances of recovery and gaining conciousness - Thank You for your time!!

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hello,

She has suffered hypoxic damage to the brain, and she is in coma. No one can really predict whether she ll come out or not, or if yes when she will come out. But as you mentioned she is showing some response, she has fair chance of recovery and we should keep our efforts going. Proper diet and vitamin supplements, in no otropil.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sagar Makode
