Hi,

Welcome to Health Care Magic, Thanks for writing to us,

I am Dr.Ahmad Bilal, I have read your question, I understand your concern and will try to help you in the best possible way.

There are some drugs in your cardio drugs which can cause constipation like diuretics and bet blockers.

Countering your constipation will need you to divide you effort in two parts.

(1) Change in life style and food habits.

(2) Use of meds.

I will now describe both these parts for you.

(1) Life style change.

80% of patients with constipation get cured or at-least relieved to much extent by simple dietary and life style measure.

So here is what you can do .

(a) Drink good amount of water daily specially a couple of glasses before meals.

(b) Chew your foods well.

(C) Mark the foods which specifically worsen your problem and avoid them.

(D) Stay physically active, work out and walk regularly.

(E) Increase Fibre intake in your food by a balance between vegetable, fruits and whole wheat bread.

Medicines:

(1) After Doing all the life style changes you can start with some safe meds like Fibre supplements they really help.

(2) You can discuss with your doctor about using gremafin/cremafin ..it's use thrice a day showed good result with my patients.

(3) Then there come other meds like lactulose and sodium picosulfate which you can also discuss with your doctor but they are usually for sever cases.

I Hope this answers your question, if your have more queries feel free to ask,I will be pleased to alleviate your concerns.Wish you the best of health.

Regards,

Dr.Ahmad Bilal.
