What Is The Life Expectancy For A 88 Year Old With Renal Failure?

my 88 yr old mother in law has CHF, renal failure her bun level is 94, diabetic for the last 40 yrs, weeping edema from the shins, distended belly, shortness of breath , extreme weakness, not able to sleep. Being treated with meds for heart, kidneys etc. How much longer can she exist?

Taking into your mother's history and clinical profile, I am sorry to say the prognosis is not very good. It is difficult to directly comment on how long a subject is going to live, because even under very critical situation one may respond to proper management. However, as per available data, the 1 year survival rate under these circumstances is not very good.
She may need renal replacement therapy. Distended belly indicates fluid in the abdomen, which may further aggravate her shortness of breath (fluid may need to be drained). Weeping edema in shin again indicates a hypoalbuminemic state (albumin supplement may be needed) alongwith a heart failure component. As you have mentioned that she is already on medications, I presume that she is already receiving treatment for Congestive cardiac failure.
