Potassium chloride is similar to salt, which is sodium chloride. It is sometimes used as a salt substitute for people who can't take salt in their diet. If he drank it, he might get upset stomach and not feel well for a while, depending on the dose. But unlikely to be life threatening taken orally. However, injection of potassium chloride can cause death within minutes as it stops the heart. The dose for this to happen is very small. Hope this helps.
