What Is The Infection Eating Away My Skin In The Twoe When On Econazole Nitrate Cream?
I have a nasty infection eating away my skin on my two small toes. I went to a minute clinic and she said it was athletes foot. She gave me a cream called "Econazole Nitrate Cream." It has been 4 days and it seems to be getting worse. The thick layer of skin eaten away is pinkish deep red sweating clear sappy. My whites are dis-colored. They are a dirty yellow and florescent light green. Should I be concerned?
Seems that there is an element of secondary bacterial infection as well.
If I was your treating doctor I would have started you on oral antibiotics (penicillin group e.g Amoxycillin) for a week
Econazole cream can be continued for at least 4-6 weeks.
Apart from this I would have also started you on oral antifungals e.g either fluconazole or itraconazole for faster and more complete relief.
An antifungal dusting powder can be used to prevent a relapse once the fungal infection is cured. It will not only keep the area dry but being antifungal in nature also inhibit the growth of the fungus.
