What Is The Ideal Blood Sugar Level During Pregnancy?

My blood sugar level is 98 before break fast and 130 after one hour and 120 after two hours of morning breakfast. My doctor advised me to take 6 units of insulin at bed time to bring blood sugar down. I am seeing on the net that these levels are pretty fine. My HBA1 shows 5.5 and I am in the 35th week of pregnency

Hello and I hope I can help you today.

I want to congratulate you on having very good glucose control!

I generally recommend having a fasting glucose level less than 95, and either less than 140 at 1 hour or less than 120 at 2 hours after meals.

But your HbA1c is normal, which is a sign you are under good control.

You should discuss with your provider whether or not to continue on that insulin dose and regimen. But in my opinion your glucose control is excellent and I would keep up the good work.

I hope I answered your question and that this information was helpful. Best of luck with the rest of the pregnancy, Dr. Brown
