What Is The Effect Of Calcium Accumulation In Vein Of An Amputated Leg?
Hi my grandfather who is dialysing due to kidney problems has been told that his X-ray results show that he has calcium in his veins leading to his legs one of wich was amputated 2 months ago just below the knee and we just want to know the possible outcome of this happening and are their ways to help fix it.
Hi, The calcium must be in the arteries of the limb. It is quite normal for a kidney disease patient to have calcium deposition in the arteries but it is usually not severe enough to cause block in the artery to lead to amputation. Unless there are other diseases like Hypertension and Diabetes. You will have to keep a close watch on his limb and I also suggest getting an Arterial Doppler of the other limb also so as to know if there are any blocks in that limb. All the best.
