What Is The Dosage Of Thyronorm For Hypothyroidism?

My daughter is 1 year old .She is being treated for hypothyroid since last 1 year . She is taking Thyronorm 25 mcg . Her height , weight and health is good(as per her pediatric ). Recently she had done TSH 3rd generation and free T4 tests. TSH is fine . but the T4 seems to be abnormal. TSH is : 1.72 mIU/L and Free T4 is : 2.1 ng/dL . Generally in case of hypothyroidism, free t4 level goes to the lower range where as its in higher range. Still her endocronology doctor is suggesting to remain on same dose (25 mcg) . Could u please suggest something.

Hi,i dont see a reason to worry about your doughter tests.Free T4 normal range is 0,7-1,9 ng/dl.So i think that for the moment the dose 25 mcg Levothyroxine /die is Ok.If i were your daughter treating doctor i will suggest continuing with the same dose and repeat the thyroid test after a month.If the free T4 continues to increase...then i will decrease the dose of Levothyroxine.I hope i have answered to your question.
