what is the difference between tretinoin cream and adapalene .01 gel microsphere? tret cream nighlty irritated my skin and made my face so much worst but derm said it is ok even if he is prescribing it with a tret toner too applied 2x daily. i gave up on my 7th week and sought another derm, she agreed my meds were irritating so she switched me to adapalene gel micro mwf and presribed me topical steroid (3 days whole face 2x, den 2x daily on red/dark spots for 2 weeks, then nightly after). follow up check up anext month
Adapalene is a molecule which has activity like retinoids but not exactly a retinoid. But tretinoin is a retinoid. Basically both are different molecules but have almost similar action with regards to cure on acne. You are having hypersensitivity reactions to tretinoin. Now that you are under different dermatologist, they have prescribed an alternative therapy and you might not have any reactions for adapalene.
