Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Taking lactare granules twice a day with milk is more than enough. Do not take more than that, as it would not help much. No real side effects of lactare are known and taking it twice a day is adequate.
If your baby is not satisfied with just the breast milk, it is right that you are supplementing with top feed as well.
With top feed, what you need to keep in mind is that you have to maintain proper hygiene. Proper cleaning and sterilizing the bottles and nipple with boiling daily is necessary.
The formula milk should be made by addition of proper amount of boiled and then cooled water. The amount of top feed should be calculated based on baby weight.
If proper precautions are maintained, there is no harm in giving top feed.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
