What is the cause of tenderness and irritation in the eye with lump on the white part of the eyeball ?

Half of my right eye is blood red, tender and irritated; there also appears to be some swelling or a lump on the white part of the eyeball, about 1/4 away from the cornea . I am a 61-year-od cauc male, and I have taken acyclovir orally for two weeks and used OTC eyedrops, but the condition persists.

Dear Sir,

It seems from your description that you probably have developed nodular episcleritis or scleritis in your right eye. Your eye condition requires a detailed investigation in consultation with your eye specialist and the physician.
