What Is The Cause Of Small Lump On The Upper Back?

My boyfriend has had a small, pea sized, skin colored lump on his upper back for several months. It has a small black spot in the middle, has not grown in size, and is painless. I've tried to research what this could be online and have come up with multiple diagnoses. What is the most likely cause?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.The swelling has a black spot- not increasing in size and painless. The most likely cause is a sebaceous cyst.
Can be excised if he is willing.
