What Is The Cause Of Pain To The Back Of My Head?

Im experiencing shooting sharp pains to the back of my head, they only last a few seconds but have been happening the last 24 hrs. They occur every couple of minutes. Ive been taking strong painkillers but do not ease any pain. I do have a chest infection at the moment and a really bad cold and have been prescribed Amoxicillin for that.I wondered if it an ear infection as well as it seems to shooting from that direction. But it is becoming unbearable and i cant sleep because of the shooting pain.

Hello,
Thank you for your question and welcome to Health Care Magic. I read your query and I understand your concern and the anguish that you are having.

Based on the description that was given it seems that you have a chest infection. A chest infection can cause the headache and also lead to dehydration and other issues that you are facing.

If you still have the chest infection, you need to finish the full course of medication. If the problem still continues, then please see a Doctor and get Culture and sensitivity done. In a C/S, the bacteria is grown and then tested against antibiotics. This will help you with the treatment.

Wish you a speedy recovery. All the best.
Hope this helps you. Feel free to clarify further.
