What Is The Cause Of Pain At The Back Of The Neck And Rash Over The Body?

My 7yr old son woke up with a pain behind his ear which developed into a pain in his neck which he now can t turn properly to one side, we have given him liquid paracetamol every 4 hours today and the pain behind his ear has gone but his neck still hurts at the back on both sides, he is holding it stiffly, has a rash over his body but is otherwise ok, should I be concerned about meningitis?

Thanks for your query and an elucidate history.
Noted the history related to your 7 year old son who had developed pain behind the ear that increased to involve the whole neck, relieved a lot with Paracetamol, but the sore and hold up remains at the back of the neck and also the pain while moving the head along with development of rash all over the body.
Meningitis would not present like this and will have far more symptoms like headache, vomiting, inability to to bend the neck and signs of cerebral and cerebellar irritation.
I would advise you to take him to the Doctor as clinical evaluation and actual physical examination and some investigations if required will confirm the diagnosis and your son gets a specific treatment.
