What Is The Cause Of Hot Flashes And Sweating?

hi Iam 19 and have started getting these weird hot flash type things. I also often (maybe 3-4 times a week) wake up sweating even when its not an overally hot night. I have a history of migranes and am not on any birth control because of this. (I am also not pregnant). What could this be?

Your symptoms point to some type of hormonal phenomenon. I would start by getting a good physical examination because that is essential. Assuming there is nothing grossly wrong systemically the next step may be some blood work looking at the thyroid hormones, adrenal hormones, and then, the female group of hormones often implicated in such symptoms such as estrogen, progesterone, FH, LH, etc. Aside from that an ultrasound of both your uterus and ovaries might also be useful during the workup but the doctor examining you would make that determination.
