What Is The Cause Of Grey Hair After Using Mintop Solution?

I used Mintop solution(5%) for 25 days regularly. But when it get into my eyes by mistake I stopped to use it for 8-10 days (afraid if it were a side effect) and after that I again started its use.Till now I used it for more than 2 months(some times applied with coconut oil as my doctor said it will not have any side effects).Within this period I notice there some new hairs but with this there are also some grey/white hair in separate areas. For the time I am having 4-5 grey hair(visible to me in mirror).Should I stop its application or should I ask doctor to some other medicine/lotion.Will these grey hair turn to my hair color & how long would it take. Please guide me what will be best to resolve this problem.

Hello and welcome to healthcaremagic.

Graying of hair is unrelated to topical minoxidil. While minoxidil can cause side effects like irritation and dryness/scaling of the scalp, graying is not a side effect. I would advice you to continue with it.

Graying needs to be managed separately. Hair is said to gray prematurely when it occurs before the age of 20 in whites, 25 in Asians and before 30 in africans.

Premature graying of hair occurs more commonly without any underlying pathology but is said to be mostly inherited.

A role is postulated for environmental factors such as ultraviolet light, climate, smoking, drugs, trace elements, and nutritional deficiencies in the causation of premature graying.

However, to date the exact etiology of premature graying has not been established.

Treatment modalities that are presently available and have efficacy are:

--Calcium pantothenate and.
--Para Aminobenzoic acid.

Topical 1% Melitane is also claimed to reverse and arrest further premature graying of hair. It is available as a gel and needs to be applied once daily (2ml) at night at the roots.

I would advice that you visit a dermatologist and discuss regarding various treatment modalities and also get a prescription out of these.

Hope this helps you in getting a solution to your problem

regards
