What Is The Cause Of Bruise In The Vein?

I just noticed a bruise on my left leg right below my knee to the right. I have a noticeable vein there, but it doesn't stick up or swollen. It is only a little painful if I press down on it. Do you know what would cause the vein to bruise after having the noticeable vein for over 40 years?

It could be small varicose vein which you might be noticing. The bruise could be due to a blood clot in the vein or out of it depending on whether you got hurt in that area in the past few weeks. Dont worry about it as long as your limb is not swollen and you dont have any pain. It will settle down on its own. However, if you have any of the above complaints then you should have a Venous doppler done for the limb.
Take care,
Dr Rishi, India.
