For the past few weeks in the morning when I wake up, my spit will have small very light traces of blood in it. And every now and again throughout the day. I am not coughing it up, or needing to spit it up, I just usually have a routine of spitting in the morning before I brush my teeth. What could this be? Thanks
Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM. I can understand your situation and problem. Blood in spitting suggest pathology in mouth. But better to rule out pulmonary causes. Because Hemoptysis (blood in sputum ) can also falsely percieved as blood in spit. So get done chest x ray to rule out possible causes for haemoptysis ( pneumonia, tuberculosis etc) If chest x ray is normal then no need to worry for pulmonary causes. Consult dentist and get done clinical examination of oral cavity to rule out carries tooth or gum bleeding and start appropriate treatment.
