I was at basketball practice and got elbowed in the back of the ear. It now feels like I have water in my ear which really I don't. I think it's fluid but I'm not for sure and If I turn my head in a certain direction I can hear the fluid. Any thoughts of what it could be?
Hello, Thanks for writing to HCM, There could be injury to the ear. This is called as barotrauma. ie injury due to sudden chance in pressure on the one side of ear drum causing pressure gradient or difference between two sides of the ear drum. There could be injury to small blood vessels and collection of blood due to rupture of small blood vessels. You need to get an ENT consultation to see for the condition of the ear drum, and medicines like antibiotics and decongestants. In doubt do reply.
