If I were your husband s doctor, I would prescribe for him a broad spectrum antibiotic, an anti inflammatory and a proton pump inhibitor along with a probiotic. Once the infection subsides, simple celulitis would subside by itself, where as if it was an abscess, it would either burst or increase in its symptoms. If the swelling does not subside, I would not hesitate to send you to the concerned specialist (a general surgeon) for a FNAC (fine needle aspiration cytology) of the lesion, and then proceed according to the report.
