What Is The Cause Of A Lump Behind The Ear?

lump behind ear on skull none
About 2 week ago I had a mass on my head just behind my ear where your bone sticks out and the ear comes out. It was inflamed and growing down my neck. It had pain when touched.about two days later it was better. Now it is not as big and just on the bone. I've had a lot of bad headaches and today my ear feels plugged. I've been in a lot of pain. Feel noxious and my muscles hurt. Do these things involve each other? What is this thing behind my ear?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of lump behind the ear which are pointing towards a condition known as cyst or a Sebaceous cysts which are sack-like lumps are made up of dead skin cells and oils produced by oil glands in the skin. Sometimes it could be due to infection and swelling of lymph nodes. Need not to worry. You should avoid touching or pricing area with any sharp object. Maintain complete hygiene. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper diagnosis. Doctor may order certain tests like audiometry , tympanometry and do physical examination to rule out condition like lymphadenopathy . If a cyst becomes painful, it may be infected. Treatment may include antibiotics or removal of the cyst. For now give warm compresses to affected area .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
