What Is The Cause For Hands And Feet Turning Purple During Sleep?

2 year old boy whose bands and feet turn purple during sleep almost every day. Had a traumatic birth Was stuck under mothers rib cage and during C section took three nurses to push him free. Now has 3 pockets of fluid inside spinal column. One at neck, one center back and one waist area. Motor skills on left side are a little slower. An untrained eye would not notice. He runs, does forward flips, climbs. Has had PT since 9 months. Had OT until tested out recently. This discoloration has started within the last 6 months. Has had 2 MRI s. One at age 14months and another 6 months (last month) later to monitor change in fluid sacs. No significant change. Pediartic neurosurgeon says not related to spine. Where do we go now?

HI
Your baby's circulation is still in the process of developing. Purple hands and feet is just a result of this immaturity. You do not need to be concerned if your baby is otherwise acting healthy. However if his lips or chest turn blue you should see your pediatrician as this can be a sign of cardiac disease.
