What Is The Cause For Blood In The Urine?

I have been urinating blood. It is very painful when I first start to pee it feels like someone is jabbing a needle in my penis. towards the end of urinating my urine is solid red coming out and then it clears up and then stringy like blood comes out. my doctor prescribed me cipro an antibiotic. we are awaiting my urine culture results. this is the 2nd time this has happened and the first time. stds were ruled out. and i was just given antibiotics and also kidney stones were ruled out after an ultrasound. if this is an std this time, what could it be? if not an std what edlse could it be?

Hello and thank your for asking HCM.

I have read your symptoms and i understand your concerns. But i have to agree with your doctor. Those are the signs of an urinary tract infection and the treatment that he prescribed is one of the best.
Every time that bacteria enters our urinary tract they damage the walls of the tract, that is why there is blood in your urine. The inflammation ,the products of the dead cells in the urine ect, are the reason why you have the burning feeling while urinating. You need to give time at your body, at least a couple of days to heal itself from the infection.

Also you can help it:
-have plenty of fluids, this way your bladder will flush the bacteria out
-have fresh fruit juice
-1 or 2 cup of chamomile tea, rose tea to help fight the infection
-urinate as soon as possible after sex
-don't hold your urine,go to the bathroom as first as you feel that you need to
-empty your bladder all the time

I am sure that in a couple of days you will feel better. For the pain you can use ibuprofen.

The urine culture will confirm the diagnosis.

IF you have any other question, feel free to ask.
