What Is The Cause And Treatment For Ear Infection?

Hi. I have an ear infection that I got from swimming. My doctor said that it s a fungal infection, and that it will be hard to get rid of. I have been feeling sharp pains in my ear for the past 3 days and when I push on my tragus, its incredibly painful. I have been putting anti-fungal medicine. How long do you think it might take until the infection goes away? And why is it so painful when I push my hand on my ear? What should I do to help make the infection go away?
