What Is The Cause And Treatment For Colon Problem?

I am 61/ female/weigh 110 lbs/ height 5'2"/hernia operation on lower right side 3 years ago/ diagnosed with cerival cancer 2 and 1/2 years-received internal and external radiation and chemo. Just had colonoscopy/she could not complete. Was told in recovery by nurse that I had a treacherous colon. What is this and what causes it? I will now have a colonography.

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history about a 61 year old lade and understood the concerns.
Treatment of cervical cancer and hernia operation can cause multiple problems in abdomen like intestinal obstruction, kinking, adhesions and so on; there can be a recurrence of cancer also which needs to be confirmed or ruled out by an appropriate investigations as follows:
Since colonoscopy could not be completed due to treacherous colon, th causes can be one of the above mentioned.
This can be diagnosed by the following:
Double contrast CT scan of the abdomen would show most of the problems as discussed above.
Virtual colonoscopy is another possibility.
If there is any evidence of obstruction, you may need diagnostic Laparoscopy and procedure.
Since you have not mentioned the symptoms it is difficult to say a probable diagnosis and you have also not mentioned the reasons for colonoscopy but with the past history it is the best to get the causes ruled out one by one.
