What Is The Best Way To Come Off Of Geodon?

My son had some depression lately and a friend told him he needed to see a psychiatrist even though he was managing the depression. This started him down a nightmare road of prescription drugs. He put him on geodon, cogentic and colonapon (not sure how to spell that) for anxiety. Then off of that and on to antivan. Then off of that and on to xanax. At one time he cold turkeyed him off of geodon, xanax and ativan. These drugs made his depression worse than before. At this time he is on lower dose of geodon. Last week the Dr said well maybe you just had depression after all. He has stopped seeing this Dr. My question is what is the best way to come off of Geodon. He is going to his medical dr today. Thank You. FRank

Hi
Thanks for using healthcare magic

You did not mention the dose of geodon(ziprasidone). If you want to taper it down, it should be gradual like if you are on 80 mg per day and then gradually decrease it 20 mg per week, that means, in one month, he would able to stop geodon. Rest he can discuss with his psychiatrist.

Thanks
