What Is The Best Medicine For Headache?

My husband says he gets headaches that make him feel sick when he takes omeprazole 20mg capsule. Is there any other pill he can take in its place (generic if possible). He just started taking donepezil HCL 10mg so I am not sure which pill it is or a combination of the two, however, he said he had headaches prior to the donepezil which he has only taken for about 3 days.

Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries

I can understand your concern. Omeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor drug and Donepezil is a cholinergic drug. Both drugs can cause mild headache in individuals taking them. Some studies have proved that when individuals start taking Donepezil they suffer frequent headaches especially during first month of therapy. He has started the drug with 10 mg doses and this is high dose, as per my opinion the starting dose should be 5 mg for about 2 weeks and then it can be increased to 10 mg per day. Dose increase in this manner will not cause much headache. Discuss with his psychiatrist before making any change in doses.

Thanks, hope this helps you. Take care
