What Is Swelling And Tightness In Calf With A Hard Spot On It Suggestive Of?

My right calf is swollen and the skin in tight, there is a 3 inch circle in the middle of my calf that is hard and hurts to the touch. I feel like it might be a bug bite but i do not remember being bitten. It has not gotten any better in the last 4 days.

Thanks for contacting HCM with your health concern and following should be kept in mind:

1. swelling/tightness/pain in calf region and not getting better should be evaluated for DVT (deep vein thrombosis) by a general surgeon using Doppler study and managing the same if the cause comes out to be a clot.

2. otherwise one should exclude diabetes, calcium deficiency, salt deficiency or low potassium.

3. take Vit. E capsules and calcium for long term therapy.
