What Is Hymen?

Hi i am 14 years old, and I was wondering, if I even have a hymen at all? In primary school I wasn t to about these. But in high school someone told me when you lose your virginity you bleed. So I researched and found out it was because of a hymen. I don t really do sports and I don t have a covering over my vagina at all.

First of all, you are too young to be worried about hymen. Secondly, hymen is a tissue that every woman is born with. So there's no question of not having it.You have not mentioned about have had sex or not before checking your hymen.And also one does not bleed profusely like menstrual bleeding after hymen rupture. Yes, it could get ruptured because of reasons other than sexual intercourse too, as it is very delicate. You would not find it if you try to look for it, as it is deep seated. Hope this was helpful.

A hymen is a thin membrane like structure deep within the vagina. It is not seen from outside and most girls at your age have an intact hymen. The hymen can get partially ruptured during sports and horse riding etc. It is not a covering that will be seen from outside. Please do not worry about it and you can know more by asking your biology teacher at high school.
